Nagatoro Gorge [All the leaves are brown]

Nagatoro Gorge is a great day trip from Tokyo for those looking for their annual dose of Autumn. Plus, Nagatoro Gorge comes complete with kitschy boat rides down very tame rivers. What better way to see yet more Autumn leaves?!

Of course, there are other things to do in the town but we were too captivated strolling the streets to make it to the cable car before the sun set at 4.30 pm! There is also an old steam train that rattles through town for anyone else with a small child obsessed with all things transport.

We will certainly be returning next summer for some camping! And possibly in sakura season too – as the river area is full of these delightful trees too!
