For those of you who have been following along at home/for those of you who know anything about Japan – cherry blossom (or sakura as they are known locally) season is emblematic of the Japanese experience.
In 2018 we decided to venture afield in the search of new playgrounds with sakura, but unfortunately we missed the mark with this one and we were a few days too early! As Jo from the Tokyo Chapter recommends, always check your Instagram location photos to see if whatever foliage you are hunting for is in bloom!
We finally nailed it (along with a few hundred fellow spectators) the following weekend at Asukayama Park in the north of Tokyo. Needless to say the serenity was non-existent, but the play equipment and the view was magical!
In particular – cat man (the bottom left picture) proved to be very popular as he transported not one but three cats to enjoy his hanami!
